"I don't believe the Bible."
(They must believe the Bible.) |
-
All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness:
II Tim. 3:16
-
For the prophecy came not in old time
by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the
Holy Ghost. II
Pet. 1:21
-
And he said unto him, If they hear not
Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose
from the dead.
Luke 16:31
|
|
"I can't understand the Bible." |
-
But the natural man receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither
can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
I Cor. 2:14
-
For we walk by faith, not by sight:
II Cor. 5:7
-
Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col. 3:16
|
|
"I don't think Jesus is God." |
-
In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning
with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing
made that was made. 14And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:1-3, 14
-
And Thomas answered and said unto him,
My LORD and my God.
John 20:28
-
Who being the brightness of his glory,
and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word
of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the
right hand of the Majesty on high:
Heb. 1:3
|
|
"I think there are other ways to heaven." |
-
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the
truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6
-
Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby
we must be saved.
Acts 4:12
|
|
"I'm not so bad." |
-
Therefore by the deeds of the law there
shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge
of sin. 23For all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom. 3:10, 23
-
But we are all as an unclean thing, and
all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf;
and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isa. 64:6
-
The heart is deceitful above all
things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jer. 17:9
|
|
"I don't think God will condemn me." |
-
He that believeth on him is not
condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath
not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
36He that believeth on the
Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see
life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John
3:18, 36
-
And as it is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the judgment:
Heb. 9:27
|
|
"I'm keeping the laws of God." |
-
Therefore by the deeds of the law there
shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge
of sin.
Rom. 3:20
-
Knowing that a man is not justified by
the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have
believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of
Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall
no flesh be justified.
Gal. 2:16
-
For whosoever shall keep the whole law,
and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
James 2:10
|
|
"I'm doing the best I can." |
-
For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works,
lest any man should boast.
Eph. 2:8-9
-
Not by works of righteousness which we
have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus
3:5
-
But we are all as an unclean thing, and
all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf;
and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isa. 64:6
|
|
"This sounds too easy." |
-
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:31

For the preaching of the cross is to them
that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
I Cor. 1:18
-
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For
as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isa.
55:8-9
|
|
"I'm not sure the Lord will accept me." |
-
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matt.
11:28
-
All that the Father giveth me shall come
to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 6:37
-
The Lord is not slack concerning his
promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
II
Pet. 3:9
|
|
"I'm too bad." |
-
This is a faithful saying, and
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that
in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern
to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
I Tim. 1:15-16
-
Wherefore he is able also to save them to
the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make
intercession for them.
Heb. 7:25
-
Come now, and let us reason together,
saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as
snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isa. 1:18
|
|
"I'll have to give up too much." |
-
Lay not up for yourselves treasures
upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break
through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through
nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.
Matt. 6:19-21,
33

For what is a man profited, if he shall
gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul?

-
And he said unto them, Verily I say
unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren,
or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive
manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life
everlasting.
Luke 18:29-30
|
|
"I can't give up my old ways." |
-
Come unto me, all ye that labour and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest
unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matt. 11:28-30

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is
a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become
new.

Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

I can do all
things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

|
|

So then every one of us shall give
account of himself to God.
Rom. 14:12

die, but after this the judgment:
Heb. 9:27

It is a fearful thing to fall into the
hands of the living God.
Heb. 10:31
-
And I saw a great white throne, and him
that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and
there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead,
small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another
book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of
those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And
the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up
the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to
their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the
second death. And whosoever was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold,
now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for
a little time, and then vanisheth away.

-
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for
thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
